Sarah Cohen

Sarah Cohen is a Balanced Body Senior-trained Pilates instructor with 20 years of teaching experience and a background spanning both studio and clinical settings. She completed her Pilates teacher training through Balanced Body in 2006 and has spent the past two decades helping clients build strength, confidence, and a deeper connection to their bodies through movement.

Sarah’s teaching style is energetic, thoughtful, and challenging. She loves encouraging clients to step outside their comfort zones, explore what their bodies are capable of, and—of course—work up a little sweat along the way. She believes deeply in the transformative power of Pilates and its ability to create strength and resilience that extend far beyond the studio.

Sarah’s movement journey began with yoga. She trained as a Prana Vinyasa Yoga teacher and opened her first studio in Monterey, California, in 2004. Her approach to movement has been shaped by years of study and by influential teachers including Rusty Wells, Shiva Rea, Coral Brown, and Steve Ross. The mindfulness, creativity, and flow of her yoga background continue to influence the way she teaches Pilates today.

Now the founder and curator of True North Pilates, Sarah is passionate about creating experiences that bring people together through movement, challenge, and community. Whether teaching in the studio or leading a retreat, her goal is for clients to leave feeling stronger, more capable, and more connected to themselves.

As Sarah often reminds her students, the practice doesn’t end when class does—it’s what we carry with us into the rest of our lives that matters.
